Why travel this route
Hanoi swallowed its surrounding villages decades ago, but the villages did not entirely notice. Dong Ngac still has its communal house, its lineage halls, its old brick houses and its own festival calendar, and the families there still farm.
You walk and cycle it rather than drive it, stop where something is happening, and eat lunch in a family home. It is the best single day we run near Hanoi, and almost nobody does it.
- Walk and cycle through Dong Ngac's lanes, past ancestral halls and old brick houses
- Visit the communal house and hear how the village organises its own affairs
- Watch a short cooking demonstration and eat lunch with a local family
- Ride out to Lien Mac's vegetable and flower fields along the dyke
- Stop and talk to the farmers working the beds — your guide interprets
- Visit a tofu-making household and taste it while it is still warm
Where you sleep, night by night
A full day out of central Hanoi, back before evening.
| Stop | Nights | Why we stop here |
|---|---|---|
| Hanoi | 1D | A thousand-year-old capital where lake-side boulevards, shophouse alleys and street-food corners sit side by side. |
